I am an experienced senior financial and general management executive, with broad expertise in Management Consulting and Franchising. I am the President of Davier Consultants Inc, since 1994, a Management Consulting Firm based in Montreal.


Some of my mandates since 1994 include:


International

  • Team member in a Project, mandated by the African Development Bank to prepare a study of Franchising as a business format and its benefits to the development of SMEs on the Continent. Markets included South Africa, Egypt and Morocco. Work concluded in a Report entitled ’Enhancing Development in Africa, Franchising Report’ produced in 2002.
  • Following that work, Davier Consultants developed a network of business and franchise consulting firms in various countries: India, Spain, UK, Australia and Romania. Worked extensively with the Canadian trade commissioners for many of these countries as well.
  • In addition, I have been invited as a guest speaker by the Canadian Embassy in countries such as Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Morocco to promote investment and awareness of franchising models.
  • Our Firm has represented some Canadian franchisors looking for partners in various countries including Europe and South America.


Management Consulting

  • A multi year relationship with Esso (Exxon), in which I successfully recruited 26 candidates (individuals and corporations) for footprints in the fuel delivery and lubes reselling business. In addition, the Client engaged me to review the operations and financials and to provide general management consulting services to select agents.
  • I was an advisor to the CEO and a member of the Board of Directors for a medical services business here in Quebec for several years. Lead the restructuring design and the development of a new strategic plan.
  • Similar responsibilities with a Toronto based Printing Company for over 9 years as this time.
  • In addition, have had a variety of mandates centered around restructuring and/or interim CEO/COO/CFO roles


Franchising Consulting

  • As a former Chairman of the Franchise Association of Quebec, a former Master Franchisee and a member of the Canadian Franchise association, I am experienced in all aspect of structuring, design and implementation of a multi-unit franchise business model. I have consulted extensively, both domestically and internationally with large and mid size franchisors in the QSR, conventional restaurants, retail and services areas.
  • Examples of work mandate with large clients include senior consulting services followed by Canada wide recruitment services for Shell Canada, Husky Energy, Burger King and Yves Rocher North America.
  • We have also provided services in the area of pre-franchising consulting, banking relationship, franchise recruitment, regional (Quebec) Management support and franchise recruitment for other national or provincial franchisors.
  • I have been working with a number of established Canadian companies, based in Ontario and Quebec, in developing their Franchise Model: from building the financial model, franchisee profile definition and recruitment strategy and working in tandem with legal firms to design the Franchise Agreements & Disclosure documents and thereafter becoming their Franchise Consultant and Recruitment Partner. These companies are in segments such as Casual Dining, QSR, Medical Equipment, Financial services, Health products & supplements as well as in other retail or service businesses.
  • I have written several articles for specialized franchise magazines, given seminars on "How to Franchise your Business" in Montreal and Toronto, as well as being retained as a Franchise Expert by Revenue Canada and the Ministry of Justice in two occasions.
  • I have been serving on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Franchise Association (www.cfa.ca) for an ongoing period of 6 years


Prior to forming Davier Consultants in 1994, my career included the following

  • President and co owner of a Canada wide Master Franchise System, building it from the ground up to over 25 franchises in 5 Canadian provinces.
  • I held the function of Executive Vice-President of a chain of large footprint drugstores with 55 locations (49 franchises) and sales of $200Million. Held direct P&L accountability and was responsible for Finance, Store operations, Business Development and Human Resources. In total, the company had some 1200 employees.
  • Previously I was the Vice-President Finance & Administration of a Canadian subsidiary for an American multinational in the cosmetics industry, namely Helene Curtis Ltd.


I am fluently bilingual in French and English, and intermediate in Spanish.
